Brain Dissection

Room 15 have been studying the brain and had the opportunity to look at a real pig’s brain. The students located the brain and were able to scoop it out with a spoon. They were able to apply their knowledge of the parts of the brain to identify all the different areas including the brain stem, cerebellum and the cerebrum.

“It was a little gross at first but really fun and interesting. My favourite part was when we finally got the eye out and could see the optic nerve. We identified the Arachnoid mater and the brain stem too.” Jade
“We got the brain out with a spoon and it had a slimy texture. It was good that we could see all of the parts of the brain we have been learning about in real life. We also got the eye out and saw all this black inky stuff come out.” James
