Holiday flooding

Saxton Stadium in a mess. Photo from Waimea Weekly
Wow the first week of the holidays and many people in the Richmond area have been badly effected by the huge amount of rain we have had.

Have you or your family had any problems with flooding?

Share your story here, or tell us what you have been up to for the holidays

  1. We were in Mot all weekend for dance comps and I did really well I won 6 trophies and a sash. Our house was fine, but we have redone my bedroom recently and all my stuff out of my room was in the garage and in cardboard boxes and all my stuff got wet.

    1. Well done Hayley. Good for you. Was it singles or with a partner and how many other people competed.

    2. I do it on my own. Heaps of people competed in it, people from Westport, Christchurch and other dance.schools from around Nelson like Jordanas dance school.

  4. I wasn't there but my dad says that a lightning bolt hit a few meters away from his house because there are no lightning rods there. My step mom was terrified apparently and was miserable because she is from the philippines and she complains on a warm day that it is soooo cold. It's funny because of her acsent.

    1. The driveway I used to have was so bad that we would have to park the car next to the road and walk about a km to our house in gumboots.
