Brigadeiro
Today we found out about a traditional Brazilian sweet called Brigadeiro, which is like a chocolate ball. Children make and eat these at birthday parties and on children's day. It is a special tradition that Miss B fiance Vanderley continues to do here in New Zealand, this remind him of Brazil and his childhood growing up there.
This is what you do once you have made it (Vanderley made it for us at home)
First, you rub a bit of butter on to your hands.
Then, you take a teaspoon of chocolate and roll it in a ball between your hands.
Lastly, you can add some shredded coconut into your hand and roll it around the outside of the chocolate.

The best part is eating it!!!
It is so good you try hard to get seconds!!!
If you would like the recipe to make this at home, here is the link in English
So what did you think???

Refugee Camps
We have been writing descriptive sentences describing what
we think refugee camps might be like based this photo we looked at.
Here are some examples:
Refugee camps houses are made out of old ragged sheets,
blankets or whatever else they could find. Philip
Refugee camps are full of rubbish flying everywhere, it’s as
dry as a crisp and the harmful rays of the sun beat down on the people all day.
Xavier
The smell of it is so terrible it is like sticking your head
in the toilet. Josh.B
The camps are not roomy at all and are coated with handmade
small tents, with dirty cloths and many people crowd into them to get to the
shade. Lauren
The stench is revolting. Laura

Traditions
Derek shared with us a tradition that his family does at Easter time called Cascarón. This is a tradition where his family paints eggs, hollows them out and fills them with confetti. Once you have made the eggs you then crack them above someones head, which is said to bring good luck. This tradition is also very popular in Mexico.
Does your family have a special tradition?
Thank you Derek for kindly making one for everyone in the class to enjoy your families traditions.

Discrimination
Today we discussed discrimination, and we did not really understand it.
Watch the animation below.
Then try and answer the following questions:
How does this animation explain what discrimination means?
What are some examples of discrimination?
What does the video suggest to do to stop discrimination?

Interclass cricket
On Tuesday the 27th of March room 2 played Non stop cricket against room 13.
Room2 won paper, scissors, rock and choose to field.
We had an alright fielding session but a lot of us stood
around like dead fish. Room 13 got 80 runs.
Then it was Room2’s turn to bat. It was quite bad. We didn’t
look for the gaps, tried to smash every ball and got out.
In the end we got 72 runs. Over all Room13 had a better
bowling and fielding set up.
So Room 13 advance to the next round and Room2 is knocked
out.
Well done for everyone getting involved, hopefully we will
do better endball.

Easter around the world
Easter is quickly approaching and people around the world are preparing themselves for their annual celebrations.
Christians celebrate Easter as a day to commemorate Christ's resurrection while in certain other cultures it is a day to welcome spring.
The celebrations all over the world normally include attending the mass and making Easter eggs, Easter bunnies, chocolates and buns. But there are also strange Easter traditions and weird customs followed during the celebrations in some countries.
For example in Greece Easter is known for multicolor-decorated eggs, but in Greece you will find only red color eggs. Greeks paint all their eggs only red and use these for making the Easter bread.
In Colombia, Colombians have strange dinner menu for the Easter day. Instead of chocolates and eggs, they dine on iguana, turtles and big rodents for the feast.
