Genetic traits
We have been learning about dominant and recessive genes and how they determine if you inherit traits from your parents. Here we are seeing if we have a dominant gene, such as the ability to toll tongue or a recessive gene like an attached ear lobe.

Nikau's trip to Tahuna Beach
We hopped on to the hot, stuffy bus to our destination, Tahuna Beach. We arrived there excited and ready for a big day of awesomeness. First, we played on the playground and the field with some sports gear. Then soon enough we got hungry for some sausages. We ate them and had lunch. After that we were on the beach swimming, playing and enjoying a great day. Soon, it was time to get back on the bus and go back, sandy and wet.

What was the best part of your holiday?

Tell me what the best part of your holiday was. Remember to write your name with your comment :)
2015 Blog Agreement
Please read the following guidelines for our blog, then if you agree to support them then write your first name in the comment box.
1. Treat the “class blog” as “classroom spaces” — use
appropriate language and be sure that anything you write you are proud
of and are prepared to take responsibility for!!! Our blog exists as a public
space on the Internet. When you put something on the Internet, odds are really
good that it will ALWAYS stay on the Internet. If you are not careful
about what you write, what you write now could come back to haunt you in the
future.
2. Never EVER EVER give out or record personal
information on your blog.
Please – no last names, phone numbers, home
addresses, IM screen names, personal email address etc.
Again, your
blog is a public space on the Internet and anyone, anywhere, could be
reading it. So….don’t share anything that you don’t want the world to know.
3. Never disrespect anyone or anything in your blog
posts. It doesn’t matter whether it’s a person, an organization, or just a general
idea. When you write your opinion on a topic, you don’t want someone
making a stab at what you are passionate about. So, don’t do it to someone
else. Try your best to make sure you’re not going to offend anyone in your
posts.
4. Don’t write about other people without
permission; if you can’t get their permission, use first names or initials
only. Never share someone else’s last name.
5. Always check over your post for spelling
errors, grammar errors, and your use of words. (HINT: Try pasting your
post in a word processor first and using the spell checker or use an internet
spellchecker before posting on your blog.)
6. Make sure things you write about are factual. Link
to your sources. But never link to something you haven’t read and
understood completely. When you link to something, make sure it is something
that you really want to be associated with. If a link contains material that
might be in poor taste or make some people uncomfortable, you should probably
warn readers by using a parenthetical note or some other word of caution.
7. Be aware of copyright — especially with
sounds and images. Make sure what you use is copyright free !! (Just because
you find it on the internet does not mean you are free to use it without
permission !!)
8. Keep it education-oriented. Stick to
tasks set in class. Unless it pertains to the assignment, stay away from
discussing plans for the weekend, general rambling, or diary entries about
nothing. Chances are your responses to class tasks will usually be far more
interesting!!

Introducing Mateo
Hello Room 2, I hope you had a good holiday and have had a positive start back to the term!!
It must be exciting having Mrs Andersen teaching you.
In the holidays my son decided to come early. He was born on the second Monday of the holidays at 6:40 in the morning! He weighed 6.7 pound, how heavy is that in kilos??
Here is a photo of Mateo, I will bring him in to meet you sometime later in the term.
Work hard and enjoy the term, I want to hear lots of positive things from Mrs Andersen.

Cultural shared lunch
To celebrate all our hard work we have done this term with our topic culture and identity, Room 2 decided to have a shared lunch with food that was either from our New Zealand culture or the culture the students have been studying. There was an amazing effort and thought put into the plates of food. We had amazing curry from Cambodian, interesting rum ball with mashed potato from Hungry, Italian pizza, French biscuits and breads, Tapa's from Spain, Sushi from Japan, Toffee apples from the States, German muffins and of course our famous Anzac biscuits and Pavalova, plus many more amazing creations!!
What was your favourite food? What have you enjoyed learning about this term?
