WONDERS about Child Labour

Today we started looking at the difference between children at work and child labour. We watched a video about some children that were involved in child labour. We found out that over 250 million children are in danger as they work in harsh conditions in child labour. It was really sad to watch and made us realise how lucky we are.

Dogs are better pets than cats

I agree because cats dont do much they just sit,eat, sleep and leave the house. But dogs on the other hand play, help are your best friend, and most of all are loyal.

I disagree because it depends on who you are. If you are a person who likes to go for walks, then have a dog. If you just want something that sits on your lap and purrs, then have a cat. But if I had to decide I would pick a dog because I am allergic to cats.

Naughty children should be punished by smacking

I disgree that you should be smacked for punishment because there is an anti smacking law in New Zealand and it is abuse. If you smack your child when you're angry, what is that, encouraging your kids to do when they are angry? That's right, smack! Family voilence is not ok and the best solution is to talk about the problem. Put yourself into the smacked persons shoes, would you like to be smacked?

I disagee that children should be puniched by smacking because what does that teach them? To hit when someone annoys them? To hit when someone annoys them? What if you loose your temper and hit too hard? Babies can be killed by being shaken. Do you want to be know as a baby murderer?

Junk food should be illegal to sell to kids

I DISAGREE that it should be illegal to sell junk food to kids because some kids have low blood sugar, like diabetics. When kids are good what are you going to give them when they are good, a carrot??

I disagree that junk food should be illegal to sell to kids. It is a treat for a sometimes food, but not all the time. Moderation is the key.

W.I.S Chant

We made this Waimea Intermediate chant to wish all those students going to winter tourny good luck. We played this at assembly, even though there were some technical issues, our message was spread!

Tamanui te Ra's Opening Ceremony

Today the Tamanui te Ra syndicate hit off their Olympic Challenge by having their own starting ceremony. Teams dressed in their uniforms they had designed and paraded down to courts, where they performed the chant they had created to show support for their team. Now teams will starting playing Handball, Basketball, Unihock and Gymnastic in their teams. They will be scored on how well they work as a team, show fair play and the Olympic values, as well as their determination to win.
