Survival Challenges from the Bears and Snakes

On Friday Room 2 particpated in competed in the Bears and Snakes groups Survival Challenges. We had some exciting and fun activities, including trying to eat a chocolate fish with no hands in the Bears challenges. In the Snakes challenge we had to walk around blind folded and joined as group to find clues that had puzzle pieces, they found 24 different clues around the school and put them together to make a puzzle. We can not wait for the last 2 challenges!!

Survivor Challenges

Last Friday we started the first of 6 survivor challenges that we will take part in.

Each group has created a challenged that is physical and mentally challenging.
The Bears team won the first challenge.

Students had to catch water balloons in a bucket, then run it through an obstacle course, pour the water into a milk container, untill the clue floated to the top. Then students could pull out the clue with 2 fingers, then use all the letters inside to create the secret word.
It was an exciting and fun first challenge and I can not wait for the next challenges we will do on Wednesday!

Cockroaches are Survivors!!

This week we are looking at a true survivor the Cockroach, who can live without food for a month, but will only survive a week without water.

Thorny Devil

Athletics day

On Tuesday we had our schools athletics day. The events were shot put, discuss, long jump, high jump, 60 metres and 100 metres sprints. The 200 and 400 metre finals were also on the day; we had two class representatives, Lucy and Kirsten, who ran really well. We all tried our hardest in the events and luckily we had a great day for it. At the end of the day we had the class relays, running for our class was Brandon.M, Regan, Logan, Kyle, Kalyssa, Kirsten, Lucy and Amber. Kyle got us out to a good lead and we kept that going, Amber ended up running our class into SECOND place, well done!

Syndicate Sports Afternoon

Last Friday we had the year 8 syndicate sports afternoon. We played the three sports, ultimate frisbee, fippa rugby and capture the flag. Everyone put lots of effort into wearing their syndicate colours; ours was yellow! It was a hot day but we all tried really hard to win the title. In the end we came out on top by just under 10 points, we were only one off have the most points possible! Sadly we only had time for two games out of the three, so we were hoping for some ideas for the next Friday where we will battle it out again. Can’t wait to hear your creative ideas! Trainee Briar works with Kakapo birds on Codfish Island

Miss Bibby plays futsal with Briar, and heard that she was doing her ranger training on Codfish Island, an island that is a special reserve to look after the near endangered Kakapo. Fantastic because we have been lresearching information about the Kakapo!Today we read her blog story about her adventure on Codfish island. We brainstormed lots of question that we to ask her.
