Anzac Day

This Wednesday is Anzac day, a special day to remember all those that have fought and died for New Zealand. Take this quiz to see how much you know about ANZAC day.

    How many people died in World War 1?

    ANSWER:

    There was approximately more than 20 million people that died.
    500,000 of them were Americans, 12 million of the Americans were civilians. 1,700,000 Germans died and 4,200,000 Germans were wounded. 1,300,000 of the French died and 4,200,000 were wounded.

The day that A.N.Z.A.C day first evey started was the 25th of apirl 1916 and at that time A.N.Z.A.C meant someone who fought at Gallipoli and later it came to mean any Australian or New Zealander who fought or served in the First World War. During the Second World War, ANZAC Day1 became a day on which the lives of all Australians lost in war time were remembered.

    After ww1 ended in 1918,Germany had to give up land and was banned from haveing armed forces. The second world war stared by Germany in an unprovokea attack on Poland. Britain and France declared war on Germany after Hitler had refused to abort his invasion of Poland.

  17. WW1 started with the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary by a Serbian guy. Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia. Russia, Serbia's friend, declared war on Austria. Germany, Austria-Hungary's friend declared war on Russia. Britain and France, Russia's friends, declared war on Germany. Then things get crazy.

    New Zealand was a dominion of Great Britain, so they had to join any conflict when asked to.

  19. why do poppies grow near ANZAC day:

    The poppies grew in the fields in France and Flanders and often flowered in the midst of the trenches of World War I. They came to symbolise Remembrance Day, November 11, which was often called Poppy Day in the UK. Anna!!!!

    WW2 8000 1 person in 200 of NZ's population at the time was in captivity.

    In WW1 roughly 9,911,000 people diedwhich is more than double the population of New Zealand. In WW2 over 60 million people died which was more then 2.5 percent of the population of the world. By Caleb Fraser =)
