Wearable Arts

The winning outfit
The wearable arts fashion show was on during this weeks assembly. The students had made an outfit out of recyclable material. The winning dress was made out of lots of different coloured milk bottle tops, made into a funky pattern of flowers.

We now have the chance to vote on our favourite outfit, fill in an entry form in the library this week!

Which outfit will you vote for??

The Kakapo

The kākāpō (night parrot) is one of New Zealand’s unique ‘treasures’ and with only 125 known surviving birds - including 11 new chicks born in 2011 - it is listed internationally as a critically endangered species.

This week we are looking at the Kakapo in reading.
What do you know about the Kakapo?
What do you want to find out?

Email from Free the Children Fund

We received an email from Free the children Find, thank us for supporting them and spreading the word on stopping Child Labour!! Well done Room 2, I am very proud of what you all did, you worked very hard for such a great cause!!
Here is the email...

Hi Hannah!

Thank you SO much for sharing the incredible story of passionate young students creating awareness and collecting donations towards stopping child labor! My name is April and I am the International Coordinator at Free The Children and as such I have the privilege of working with incredible students like yours from all around the world! It is truly the dedication of students just like those at Waimea Intermediate that inspire us every day and create the change we all want to see in the world! I was so happy to share the video with my colleagues in Toronto, Canada, who were all equally inspired!

On behalf of the entire organization and Free The Children team, I want to send a sincere thank you to all of the students who participated in this day of action! Congratulations on such a successful day and for spreading the word of child labor and the conditions of children from all around the world!

I wish you all the best in all of your future actions to change the world!
Keep in touch!
April
