We were so happy that the weather was good enough for all the Year 8 students to travel to Kaiteriteri beach for a day of action packed fun. The last time to enjoy time together before the holidays and heading off to high school.
Check out the photos and tell us what the best part of the day was.

Cable Bay Walk
Last Thursday our syndicate, Tamanui te ra went on a walk over to Cable Bay. We were very lucky with the good weather, as it had been raining all week leading up to our trip. 90 of us piled into two buses and made our way to Glenduan Bay, which is where we started our walk up the steep farm land. We were happy to head into the bush for some shade, before making our way to the top. It was a fantastic view from the top, as we sat and ate our lunch, then it was time to head down the slippery slopes, luckily no one fell over! We passed some people that were their shooting goats, before we balanced our way down the grassy hill and between the cows. Finally we could see the end...Cable Bay!!! Lots of us took a dip in the water, dodging the jelly fish, while other looked in the rock pools or threw rocks. It was a fanastic day, challenging at times but lots of fun. Take a look at the pics from our day!

First Aid Day
Last Wednesday our class participated in a First Aid and Saefty course, run by the New Zealand Redcross. We learnt lots about dangers and how to keep safe and what to do if some one gets hurt. We now know how to put people in to the recovery position, how to wrap cuts and what to do if we get a burn. We had lots of fun practising these, and here are some photos from our day.
Can you remeber what DRSABS stands for???

Survival Meals
Each group had to decide on a meal they could easily cook if they had to spend the night on the track while doing the Cable Bay walk. The ingredients had to be light and easy to carry in their pack, hadto have the least amount of rubbish, be cooked on a gas cooker and give you enough energy to walk out the next day.
Snakes ingredients weighed the less.
Rhinos had the least amount of rubbish.
The Bears meal was the most realistic and easy to make during a tramp.
The Pandas meal was very nutritional and had the most ingredients.
The Snakes had the tasty meal that gave you alot of energy.
Well done to all groups for planning, cooking and eating their own meal.
