Room 2's SmashingTime

In Room 2 we are learning about child labour, so we decided to try the rock simulation, to experience what is it like working like them, in those hard conditions. It was very difficult and it has given us a good idea of children go through who are working in child labour. Can you find a photo of yourself?

Miss Bibby went fishing with the Italian Rugby Team

Miss Bibby was lucky enough to take 5 of the Italian Rugby players out fishing on her Step Dad's boat. She had a fantastic time and said that the players were really down to earth, and nice guys, who spoke good english. They didn't catch any fish, but enjoyed their day out on the boat, with a barbeque after.

Do you recognise any of the players? Post a comment of who you think they are. Hint:one of the players had his player profile in the Nelson Mail on the weekend!

School Cross Country

These are some of  the photos from the school cross country, which was held on Friday last week.
Well done to Lucy for coming first in the Year 8 girls run. Kalyssa, Alicia, Amber, Kyle, Ben, (Anna as a reserve) have done so well for getting in the top 20 placing, that they will represent the school at the inter-school cross country. Great job to all the people in Room 2 that ran in the cross country, try find yourself in the photos!

Raising money to STOP Child Labour

Room 2 students creating wallets from juice boxes.

Miss Bibby showed Room 2 a wallet that she brought in Chile, that was made by children. Room 2 had an idea to make these wallets, which would be a memory of child labour and sell them to raise awareness to STOP child labour.
The money Room 2 will raise will be donated to a chosen organisation that makes a difference.
This week we will be researching which organisation will make the biggest difference with our money.

Please continue to bring in juice boxes to Room 2, the more juice boxes we get, the more wallets we can make, which mean more money we have to give, to help STOP child labour.

Finished example of the Juice box wallets we are selling to raise money for stopping child labour

Lucy, Emily and Brie reporting on Netball

Here is Lucy, Emily and Brie on their winning day!!

NETBALL FINALS
Brie, Emily and Lucy are in the year 8C green netball team and managed to make it to the finals. We played N.C.A; both teams were determined to win so it was a tricky and physical game. We were losing in the first quarter but managed to come back in the last few though it was still very close. We won 32-27 in the end and were so happy and relieved. We won two trophies one for winning our grade and one for getting the least overall goals scored against us out of 180 teams in the whole season!

Richmond Hill Walk

Last Friday, Tamanui Te Ra syndicate, went on a walk up the Richmond Hill. It was hard, but we were very determined to reach the top. Eventually we made the top and we all had a snack to munch on. It was really cool, and it was very tiring.

Strike Performance

Last week on Friday, some of the Waimea Intermediate students and teachers went to a performance called Strike. They played all sorts of drum sounds, it was amazing how they drummed so fast, it was a wicked performance to go to.
